The City of Council Bluffs greenhouse is getting ready for spring! Over 12,000 annual flowers have sprouted and are getting ready to beautify our parks and streetscapes. Have you ever wondered where all those pretty flowers come from?
Operated by Council Bluffs Parks and Recreation staff, the 3200 square foot greenhouse grows 12,000 annual flowers from seed each year. Among others being grown, this year’s batch includes many deer-resistant plants including Marigold, Vinca, Celosia, and Petunia.
Parks such as Big Lake, Fairmount, and Sunset will be decorated with these flowers. You can also find them at the Rec Complex, Kinsman Memorial, Black Angel, and along the median on the 100 Block. Flowers will be planted mid-May. Stay tuned!
