Council Bluffs Parks and Recreation announces RECtoberfest! RECtoberfest is a free event created for local teens to get together with friends and enjoy an afternoon of outdoor fun. RECtoberfest will take place at Tom Hanafan River’s Edge Park on Saturday, October 9, from 1 – 4 p.m.
RECtoberfest is a fun-filled combination of carnival games and field-day activities designed to increase awareness around Council Bluffs Parks & Recreation and increase socialization, physical activity, and recreation participation among teenagers in the community.
“We have identified a need to engage our local tweens and teens and provide them with more options for entertainment and recreation,” said Recreation and Events Manager Daniel Bettmann. “The interests of kids ages 11-18 were carefully considered when planning RECtoberfest activities.”
RECtoberfest features a lineup of activities centered on socialization and physical activity, including the U-Turn X-Treme inflatable obstacle course, nine holes of miniature golf, airbrush tattoos, a selfie station, as well as several games and competitions such as potato sack and three-legged races, yard games, and the like.
Admission to RECtoberfest is free. Participants will receive a raffle ticket for every activity in which they participate. Prize drawings will happen throughout the event. The more activities an individual participates in, the more chances they have to win.
