Council Bluffs Parks and Recreation is excited to announce the second annual Comedy Night in Bayliss Park! This is a free, laugh-out-loud event and will take place at Bayliss Park, 100 Pearl Street, on Friday, September 18, from 7:30 – 9:30 p.m. Comedians will perform on the dome stage in Bayliss Park.
There will be plenty of open space for social distancing. We ask that all attendees bring their lawn chairs and blankets and remain at least 6 feet away from people outside of your group. Face masks are encouraged when moving around the area and unable to maintain 6 feet of distance with others outside of your group. There will not be food or drink available for purchase on-site this year. The suggested audience age for Comedy Night is 18 and older.
Thanks to The Backline Comedy Club, the Comedy Night lineup includes four regional comedians that will keep the crowd laughing all evening.
Comedy Night Lineup (approximate times)
7:30 p.m.: Tyler Walsh - Tyler is an Iowa raised comedian and Midwest wanderer. His unique style of joke writing and odd lifestyle choices entertain folks from the hills to high rises. Tyler is the Omaha Funny Bone’s 2018 Best of Clash winner, a selected performer on Tower City Comedy Festival in Paris, Texas.
7:45 p.m.: Rachel Ware - Rachel has been an entertainer for more than half her life and has spent the last decade performing comedy. She has performed on stages and in clubs from LA to NYC, but her favorite venues land right here in the Midwest. She is best known for her early voiceover work, as the voice of Angel Cake in the remake of the cartoon Strawberry Shortcake and the cartoons Dino Squad, Liberty’s Kids, and Horseland. She studied musical theater in college (before quickly dropping out), and has landed roles in locally made films, including "Lovely Still" and "The Headliner." Rachel has taught long-form improv to people half her age and twice her age, and in 2016, she won an Omaha Entertainment and Art Award (OEAA) for Best Comedian. You can expect storytelling, sarcasm, engaging crowd work, and some rap songs she wrote in high school at Rachel’s performances.
8:15 p.m.: Cameron Logsdon - Cameron is a comedian from Omaha. He wrote for NBC’s Late Night Writer’s Workshop. He is a former actor and writer on Omaha LIVE!, a sketch comedy show that aired on Omaha’s NBC-affiliate. Cameron performs at clubs and colleges across the country and comedy festivals like Gilda’s Laughfest, the North Carolina Comedy Fest, and he’s been nominated for Best Comedian in Omaha 5 times.
8:45 p.m. Dante Powell - Dante Powell is a comedian from Bernice, Louisiana. Dante currently lives and performs out of Des Moines, IA, and travels the country working comedy clubs, theaters, and festivals. His debut comedy album "The Squirrels Get Fat" was produced by Grammy Award-winning Stand Up! Records and is available on any platform you use to purchase albums.
Dante opens for major acts like Godfrey, Gary Gulman, Rory Scovel, Mike Epps, Chris Porter, and Pauly Shore and headlines club weekends (Comedy Corner Underground, Blue Room Comedy Club, Penguins Comedy Club) and one-off shows. Dante brings a unique perspective founded on his life experience to storytelling and joke writing. His comedy is incredibly clever and takes on everything from the common to the mundane in a way that draws in audiences from all walks of life and allows them to connect with him.
