Did you know that residents and business owners are responsible for clearing sidewalks within 24 hours of a snowfall? Together we can keep the sidewalks in Council Bluffs safe during winter weather. When shoveling, please keep in mind the following:
• Shovel the sidewalks on all sides of your property, the full width of the sidewalk, down to the pavement.
• Pile snow onto your yard. It’s against the law to shovel snow into streets and alleys.
• If you have a corner property, clear curb cuts at corners and crosswalks to the street gutter.
Want to go the extra mile? Clear the walk for a neighbor in need. Work with your neighbors to give a hand and ensure your entire block is safe and accessible to all!
Citizens are welcome to call the Public Works Right-of-Way office at (712) 890-5296 with snow removal complaints.
