The Council Bluffs Parks and Recreation Department is offering a Junior Guard Class! Kids ages 12 and older can learn lifeguarding and CPR skills at the Junior Guard Class at Pirate Cove. This is a mini-course that introduces kids to the basic skills of lifeguarding. The class does not certify lifeguards, but it's a step in that direction. It's great for kids who spend a lot of time at the pool, have younger siblings, babysit, or are interested in becoming a lifeguard when they are old enough to certify.
Class is held July 29 - Aug 1 from 10:30 - 11:15 a.m.. and Aug 2 from 10:30 a.m. - 1 p.m. Class size is limited to 10 participants. The fee to participate is $25. Those interested must sign up in person at Pirate Cove.
Additionally, the Parks Department is offering parent-tot swimming lessons at Katelman Pool this summer. These lessons are for parents/ guardians with children under three years of age. Lessons are held July 23-25 from 9:40 - 10:10 a.m. Class size is limited to 8 children. The fee to participate is $20. Those interested must sign up in person at Katelman Pool.
