For the seventh year in a row, Council Bluffs students in 3rd and 4th grade were invited to participate in the Celebrate Recycling Art Contest. The 2018 art contest theme is “Create More, Waste Less.” Selected winners receive a scholarship for their school’s art department and get their art displayed on Red River Waste Solution curbside recycling trucks.
Area art teachers are the first judges in determining the winners, as each school can only submit two entries. The City Council receives all submissions and votes for the winners based on criteria such as the use of theme, artwork, and creativity. This year, 14 entries were received.
Congratulations to the following winners.
- 1st Place – $1,250: Olivia Wait, 4th Grade, Titan Hill Intermediate

- 2nd Place – $1,000: Kiera Auten, 4th Grade, Carter Lake Elementary

- 3rd Place – $750: Presley Kjeldgaard, 4th Grade, Titan Hill Intermediate

- 4th Place – $500: Lindsey Kolhof, 4th Grade, Carter Lake Elementary
