Duties & Responsibilities

We are committed to creating and maintaining active investigations to identify and recognize problems to improve the quality of life within the community. The Task Force aggressively seeks to identify and pursue for apprehension, any drug dealers in our three county areas through various investigative techniques and our pro-active approach to enforcing the laws. Without the help of citizens through tips from crimestoppers the Drug Hotline and now through this web site our job would be much harder.

Key activities of the Task Force include: information and intelligence gathering and dissemination; interdiction of drugs passing through the area; identification, arrest and prosecution of drug offenders; coordination and assistance to other agencies and Task Forces; conducting surveillance; obtaining and executing search and arrest warrants; developing informants; conducting undercover drug purchases; and enhancing public education and awareness of the local drug problem.

The Task Force was established in 1995 with the intention of creating a cooperative, problem solving entity with membership from all levels of law enforcement, to include city, state and federal agencies. The Council Bluffs Police Department is the lead agency and is responsible for the Task Force administrative and fiscal affairs.
