Pickleball League

Council Bluffs Parks and Recreation is offering adult pickleball leagues and a youth clinic at Cochran Park. Participants 10 years old and up are eligible for leagues, and ages 8-18 for the youth clinic.

Pickleball is a paddle sport played using a plastic ball with holes. The game combines fundamentals of tennis, ping-pong, and badminton and can be played as doubles or singles. Pickleball is played on indoor or outdoor courts measuring one-fourth the size of a standard tennis court with a lower net.

Pickleball is a friendly game with simple rules making it an ideal sport for people of all ages. While the game is social, more experience equates to a more fast-paced, challenging, competitive match.

Individual Pickleball League

Similar to Formula 1 racing, each week will feature opportunities for players to gain points in the Cochran Cup P1 standings. Registration is done individually, but most game play will be doubles format At the end of five weeks there will be a P1 champion crowned by total points earned.

  • Week 1, June 15: Doubles Round Robin
  • Week 2, June 22: Partner Draft Doubles
  • Week 3, June 29: Speed Pickleball Skinny Singles
  • Week 4, July 6: Team Competition Snake Draft
  • Week 5, July 13: Crazy 8s Round Robin
• One additional skill challenge per week for Cup points
• Individual registration, players will play with all other participants throughout the league
• Spots for 16 players
• Participants ages 10 and up
• All skills from 3.5-5.0
• All genders

    • Night 3 will include "Family Play", participants can bring a parent or guardian to the session
