The Council Bluffs Fire Department offers fire and life safety education through the Fire Prevention Division. The public education effort was started by a group of dedicated firefighters who understood the importance of educating the citizens we serve in ways to prevent fires and injuries from fire.
The initial goal of the Public Education effort was simple: reduce and prevent the incidence of fires and injuries from fires. From that starting point, a cadre of trained instructors has grown our education effort to also include injury prevention and weather safety.
A variety of fire and life safety education and training programs are available to schools, businesses, industry, and organizations throughout the year at no charge.
The Fire Prevention office also reviews and approves plans within the City of Council Bluffs jurisdictional limits. All plans reviewed for new construction and renovations will be read using the 2009 Life Safety Code and the 2009 International Fire Code, as well as any other related codes and regulations adopted by the State or the City.
