The foot of the Bob Kerry Pedestrian Bridge is located in Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park. The cities of Council Bluffs and Omaha opened the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge on September 28, 2008. This bridge was a joint project by the City of Council Bluffs, City of Omaha, the Iowa Department of Transportation, and the Nebraska Department of Transportation.  The bridge may be closed occasionally due to weather conditions like icy conditions or high winds.
