![]() Upcoming Events: The Council Bluffs Civil Rights Commission has adopted a home to paint for this year's Paint-a-Thon. We will be helping an elderly, disabled home owner who is thrilled that we will be transforming her home! We need volunteers to prime the house on Paint-a-Thon 2010!To volunteer or to learn about other ways to help, contact Sarah at smarfisi@councilbluffs-ia.gov. Saturday, August 14, 2010, and Paint Day will be Saturday, August 21. Free classes open to people with disabilities. Click here for more information. Past Events: Join the Civil Rights Commission, the League of Human Dignity, and the Omaha Royals for ADA Day at the Ball Park on Sunday, July 25th. We will continue our celebration of the 20th Anniversary of the Americans With Disabilities Act at Rosenblatt Stadium with a double-header; information about the ADA and the commission will be available at our special booth. Gates open at 11:30 a.m. with the first pitch at noon. We held a "chalk walk" art contest on the sidewalks of Bayliss Park in partnership with the Bluffs Arts Council. The theme of the contest was the Americans with Disabilities Act. The contest was on Friday, July 16th at 6:00pm, before a free showing of Astro Boy! We also had face painting for kids! Thanks to everyone who made this event such a success!
We will be marching in the parade to celebrate Council Bluffs' diversity!
