Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park
l
Dedicated to the principle of maintaining Council Bluffs riverfront as a "green" place, Tom Hanafan River's Edge Park protects and sustains the river's riparian woodland and wetlands by preserving over 80 acres of the park in its natural condition, Rivers Edge Day
carving from these natural areas a simple but grand public open space which accommodates both community use and opportunities for residents and visitor to come together and celebrate on the banks of the Missouri River.  The park can be rented for special events, corporate events, weddings, sporting events, and concerts.  For more information on rentals download the two forms below.

Rays - Council Bluffs, Iowa
Originally inspired by the great European baroque knot gardens, this 5-acre Great Lawn, is the canvas for a giant ever-changing light environment that echoes patterns of the past and updates them for the future. Utilizing powerful dynamic and robotic lighting fixtures, the lawn is activated every half hour starting at dusk.

In addition to the choreographed sequences, there is a complex interactive lighting component that will track and "play" with people through a series of simple intuitive games. The motions of the people on the lawn will control the lighting in some instances, and in others it will track them similar to follow spots at an ice skating event. As the seasons change, the lights take on new color palates; saturated hues are utilized on the show-covered lawn in winter and colors best displayed on green or brown lawn are selected for those seasons.
