Overview
The Enterprise Zone Commission reviews whether a business or housing contractor is eligible to receive the state and local enterprise zone incentives. The Enterprise Zone Commission consists of nine members who serve three-year terms. The Iowa Administrative Code says that the Commission must consist of one representative of the City Council, one member selected by the Iowa Department of Economic Development, one representative of the City Planning Commission, one member from the local community college Board of Directors, one representative from the local workforce development center, and one representative from an international labor organization. These six members then select the remaining three members and recommend appointment by the Mayor.
