Trees, Yard Waste & Mulch
EAB with penny
Tree debris and yard waste are accepted at the rate of $20.00 per ton with a $5.00 minimum charge per load. Recycling Center Staff grind the trees into mulch to sell to the public. The following guidelines need to be followed when bringing in trees so processing can be done easily and efficiently:
  • All branches and logs up to 24" in diameter shall be cut no longer than 10' in length.
  • All branches and logs 24" up to 36" in diameter shall be cut no longer than 6' in length.
  • All branches and logs 36" and larger in diameter shall be cut no longer than 4' in length.
  • All loads must be free from garbage, dirt and other debris.
  • Absolutely no metal is allowed to be in the tree loads.
  • Any load of tree debris that contains any logs not cut to proper lengths will be prorated to the $50.00 rate.
  • Any load of tree debris containing garbage, construction or other debris will be prorated to the $50.00 per ton rate.

Mulch
The mulch produced at the Recycling Center is available to residents in two forms. One type of mulch is landscape mulch which is sold for $30.00 per ton. The second mulch available is construction lumber mulch and is given to residents at no charge if they load it themselves. Recycling Center Staff will load lumber mulch for customers at a charge of $5.00 per loader bucket. Delivery within the city limits is available. Call the Recycling Center for more information.

Help reduce the spread of the emerald ash borer (see above picture)!
Effective February 4, 2014, the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship established a quarantine on the entire state of Iowa to prevent the spread of the emerald ash borer (EAB).

All mulch (landscape and lumber) products produced by the Council Bluffs Recycling center are affected by the emerald ash borer quarantine and will no longer be available for sale or transport to any area outside of the quarantined boundary. This means CBRC mulch cannot be transported from Iowa to Nebraska.
