Civil Service Commission
Overview
The Civil Service Commission is composed of three Council Bluffs citizens who are appointed by the City Council. Their purpose is to provide an efficient employment process while protecting the interests of the City and its employees.

The responsibilities of the Civil Service Commission include determining the qualification and eligibility of applicants for positions in the classified service and hearing appeals on matters involving the rights of non-probationary Civil Service employees.

The rules governing the Civil Service process can be found in Chapter 400 of the Iowa Code.

The City Clerk serves as the Civil Service Secretary.
